Accelerating Efforts in the Second Half to Bridge Educational Gaps and Develop Community Sports Infrastructure

Park Hee-jo, Mayor of Dong-gu, Daejeon, stated on the 17th, "In the second half of the 8th term of the elected administration, we will operate the district government dynamically to show definite changes that residents can feel."
On the same day, at the Daejeon City Council press room in the morning, Mayor Park explained the major achievements of the first half of the 8th term and the vision for the second half, saying, "In the first half, Dong-gu achieved remarkable results across all fields including economy, education, urban development, welfare, and culture and arts."
Key achievements in the first half included the establishment of Sikjangsan Station on Urban Railway Line 1, a subsidy of 300 million won for education expenses, the creation of a 61,000-pyeong rose garden, and the development of a 70,000-pyeong Samjeong District industrial complex.
Additionally, major accomplishments introduced were the completion of the business implementation approval for the Daejeon Station Complex Zone 2 after 16 years, the confirmation of the establishment of Cheondong Middle School after 19 years, the Safe Return Security Patrol which reduced 112 emergency calls by 42%, the Daejeon Dong-gu Dongnak Festival which generated an economic effect of 6.6 billion won, and the legislative notice for expanding the business area by 150㎡ within the Daechungho water source protection zone.
Mayor Park said that in the second half, they will steadily promote the Global Academy and the construction of a children and youth English library to eliminate educational disparities, and focus on creating living sports infrastructure such as the Sannae Multipurpose Gymnasium, baseball field, and soccer field.
Park Hee-jo, Mayor of Dong-gu, emphasized, "In the remaining two years, we will build an educational city preparing for the future of Dong-gu, an innovative city creating future value, a cultural and arts city permeating daily life, and a warm and safe care city."
