Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Kim Ikang) announced on the 17th that it will hold a drawing contest titled ‘Heroes I Met Who Protect the Kind City’ until the 15th of next month to respect and raise awareness of children's rights.
This contest is held under the theme ‘The heroes I met who are practicing the four major rights of children in the kind city Seo-gu’ and is divided into ▲Kindergarten ▲Lower Elementary ▲Upper Elementary ▲Middle and High School divisions.
Applications are open to any children under 18 years old who live in Seo-gu or attend educational institutions such as schools, kindergartens, or daycare centers in the Seo-gu area. Applicants must prepare the required documents from the Seo-gu Office website and submit their drawings (on 8-cut paper) in person or by mail to the Seo-gu Office Child and Youth Division.
The submitted works will be judged, and a total of 32 winners will be awarded on August 17. Each division will award 4 Grand Prize winners (150,000 KRW), 12 Excellence Prize winners (70,000 KRW), and 16 Encouragement Prize winners (30,000 KRW), with cultural gift certificates worth a total of 1,920,000 KRW and certificates presented.
Additionally, reflecting ESG values, winners will receive small prizes such as tumblers and keyrings engraved with the winning drawings.
The awarded works will be exhibited in the lobby on the first floor of the Seo-gu Office and used as materials for children's rights education in the future.
Park Chaeyoung, head of the Child and Youth Division, said, “This contest was prepared to increase pride in living in the ‘Kind City Seo-gu’ by giving children the opportunity to recognize their rights such as the right to survival and participation and to find heroes who practice children's rights themselves.” She added, “We hope many children participate and that this becomes a valuable experience to think and reflect together on children's rights.”
