Yeosu City, Jeollanam-do (Mayor Jeong Gi-myeong) announced that it will hold the "3rd Seomseom Yeosu Corn Festival" for two days from the 22nd (Sat) to the 23rd (Sun) in front of the Nayjin Cargo Terminal at Hwayang-myeon Office.
Under the slogan "Seomseom Yeosu Corn, Opening the Door to Taste and Romance," this event aims to raise awareness of the Seomseom Yeosu brand, a representative agricultural specialty product of Yeosu, by offering a sensory satisfaction program centered on corn.
On the first day, Saturday the 22nd, starting with the opening ceremony at 10:30 AM, various events such as free steamed corn tasting, corn husk peeling contests, family performance competitions, and corn quiz shows will be held. At 6 PM, a congratulatory performance by invited singers is scheduled.
Additionally, during the two-day event, an exhibition hall introducing various corn products will be operated, along with diverse experiential activities such as moving corn kernels, planting corn seedlings, and a corn photo zone, providing visitors with an engaging experience.
Furthermore, the city will operate a rural convergence industry certified product sales booth where visitors can purchase grains, flower syrup, tofu snacks, fig cookies, and a local agricultural product sales booth offering items such as pumpkin, potatoes, and onions, actively promoting local agricultural products alongside Seomseom Yeosu corn.
The event, including the opening ceremony, experiential and event activities, will be broadcast live on YouTube and can be viewed on Yeosu City's official SNS channel, Yeosu City - Yeosu Story.
A city official stated, "This event is expected to contribute to increasing farmers' income by widely promoting 'Seomseom Yeosu Corn' and facilitating market expansion," adding, "Exhibitions, sales, performances, experiences, and food related to Seomseom Corn will take place throughout the weekend, so we invite citizens and tourists to come and enjoy the outing."
