Decision to Reconvene Party Meeting on the Morning of the 21st
The People Power Party is suspending its daily party caucuses and increasing the time spent listening to the voices of the people at the grassroots level. Chu Kyung-ho, the floor leader of the People Power Party, stated that even without the caucuses, efforts to gather opinions from party members in various forms will continue.
After concluding the caucus at the National Assembly on the 17th, Floor Leader Chu told reporters, "We have heard many opinions through the caucuses so far, so based on that, we have decided to listen to and discuss more in-depth opinions internally." He added, "Caucuses like today's will be suspended for about two to three days for the time being." The People Power Party plans to hold the caucus again on the 21st.
Floor Leader Chu emphasized, "From today until the 20th, regarding parliamentary responses, if opportunities arise, we will continue negotiations and discussions with the opposition parties and the Speaker of the National Assembly in various forms." He continued, "The members and I will spend a lot of time at the grassroots level and focusing on livelihood policies. We will listen to the voices of the people on-site and directly verify the realities of their daily lives." He also mentioned, "Soon, the Special Committee on Medical Reform will visit hospitals that have decided to suspend operations due to the significant social issues surrounding medical problems," and "We will engage in various activities across multiple fields and in diverse forms."
Regarding the Democratic Party's plan to hold a negotiation bloc representative speech and question the government after completing the organization of the National Assembly, he criticized, "The National Assembly has not yet been properly normalized, so it is inappropriate for the Democratic Party to unilaterally operate the National Assembly as they please, even though it is not their caucus hall."
When asked if he plans to meet with Speaker Woo Won-shik and Democratic Party floor leader Park Chan-dae, he replied, "If there is contact, I will meet anytime," adding, "Our position is that dialogue must continue."
