Gwangju National Science Museum Hosts Dinosaur Special Exhibition 'Dino World'

The National Gwangju Science Museum is hosting a special exhibition called ‘2024 Dino World,’ offering a vivid experience as if stepping into the dinosaur era.

The special exhibition will be held from the 21st of this month until September 1st and features various displays and experiences including ▲Dino Time Machine ▲Dino Museum ▲Dino Park ▲Dino Lab.


In the ‘Dino Time Machine’ zone, visitors can witness the 4.6 billion-year drama of Earth's formation and explore traces of various life forms through real fossils.


The ‘Dino Museum’ zone presents a mysterious atmosphere with the Jurassic Forest where you can see Mesozoic dinosaur footprints, and a lively world of over 15 species of dinosaurs such as Spinosaurus and Stegosaurus that seem to be moving.


Notably, visitors can directly encounter models of Koreanosaurus boseongensis, the first dinosaur discovered in Korea named after the place it was found in Boseong, Jeollanam-do in 2003, and Koreaceratops hwaseongensis, the first primitive ceratopsian discovered in Hwaseong, Gyeonggi-do in 2008.


Additionally, in the ‘Dino Park’ zone, various activities such as 'Dino Footprint AR Experience, building dinosaurs with LEGO, dinosaur puzzles, and dinosaur drawing' can be enjoyed.


In the ‘Dino Lab’ zone, visitors can experience being a paleontologist through activities like 'fossil excavation experience, making fossils with clay, 3D printing dinosaur models, drawing the dinosaur world with a 3D pen, and observing amber fossils under a microscope.'


This exhibition is enriched with over 100 dinosaur fossils, models, and video content provided through collaboration with multiple institutions including ▲Korea Dinosaur Research Center at Chonnam National University ▲Mokpo Natural History Museum ▲National Science Museum ▲Natural Monument Center of the Cultural Heritage Administration ▲Geological Museum of the Korea Institute of Geoscience and Mineral Resources ▲Seodaemun Natural History Museum ▲Incheon Metropolitan Office of Education Science Information Center ▲Goseong Cultural Tourism Foundation ▲Ansan Urban Corporation ▲Yongjinwon Social Welfare Foundation, offering a rich and diverse viewing experience.
