Hyundai Construction to Develop 'H-Nature Garden' in Hillstate Complex and Public Land

First Construction Industry Initiative to Launch New Biodiversity Conservation Project with Local Governments and NGOs

Hyundai Construction to Develop 'H-Nature Garden' in Hillstate Complex and Public Land

Hyundai Construction announced on the 17th that it will be the first in the construction industry to engage in biodiversity conservation activities in collaboration with local governments and international non-governmental organizations (NGOs).

Hyundai Construction stated that on the 12th, it signed a "Biodiversity Protection Project Business Agreement" together with Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province, Gangwon Nature Environment Research Park, and the international relief and development organization World Vision at the World Vision headquarters located in Yeouido, Seoul.

Hyundai Construction plans to create gardens of regional specialty and native plants based on the local environment in landscaping sites within Hillstate complexes and public areas within the research park, and operate educational programs to raise awareness of plant protection. In addition, it decided to select Hillstate project sites in Gangwon Province and the metropolitan area to establish plant gardens aimed at protecting the local ecosystem.

Starting with the park "H-Nature Garden" planted with about 4,000 plants of 12 species of specialty and native plants such as Machilus thunbergii and Hovenia dulcis in the Hillstate Yongin Dunjeon Station complex, Hyundai Construction plans to select complexes for garden creation every year. Furthermore, in cooperation with World Vision and landscaping professional organizations, it will operate specialized biodiversity protection education programs so that local residents can directly sustain and manage plant species.

Hyundai Construction has been continuing biodiversity conservation activities such as "Yeouido Saetgang Ecological Park Experience Activities" and "Biotope Creation Activities for Otter Habitat Protection," based on the voluntary participation of employee family volunteer groups every quarter.

Since 2021, it has also been carrying out energy efficiency improvement projects in social welfare facilities together with Seoul Metropolitan Government and Seoul Energy Plus, including LED lighting replacement and solar panel installation. Through this, it has supported energy efficiency improvement projects by re-donating carbon emission rights acquired from electricity bill savings and greenhouse gas reductions.
