Universit? de Montr?al is a Canadian university recognized as the top French-speaking university in North America. President Lee's honorary doctorate was pursued through the recommendation of Polytechnique Montreal, an affiliated school of Universit? de Montr?al and one of Canada’s largest engineering education and research institutions.

Maud Cohen, President of Polytechnique Montreal, stated, “President Lee’s holistic, multidisciplinary, and future-oriented vision aligns with the values pursued by Polytechnique Montreal,” and added, “The honorary doctorate was awarded in recognition of his dedication to future generations through his past activities.”

President Lee’s honorary doctorate was conferred at the Polytechnique Montreal graduation ceremony held on the 15th local time (Canada). Serge Gendron, an entrepreneur and philanthropist who graduated from Polytechnique Montreal, also received an honorary doctorate on the same day.

Previously, President Lee was internationally recognized for his contributions in various fields including engineering education, multidisciplinary research, strategic planning, and future strategies.

In particular, he was acknowledged for positively influencing the growth of Korea’s first-generation venture entrepreneurs, mainly composed of KAIST alumni, and received numerous domestic honors and awards, including the Order of Civil Merit, Dongbaek Medal.

Additionally, in 2003, he was awarded the highest French government honor, the Legion of Honour Chevalier.
