A man in his 30s who threatened a female driver with a weapon in an underground parking lot of a commercial building, kidnapped her, and stole money and valuables was arrested by the police.
Incheon Michuhol Police Station announced on the 17th that they have arrested Mr. A on charges of special robbery and are currently investigating him.
Mr. A is suspected of threatening a woman in her 30s, Ms. B, with a weapon in the underground parking lot of a commercial building in Michuhol-gu, Incheon, at around 8:56 PM on the 12th, kidnapping her, stealing about 9 million won, and fleeing the scene.
At the time, Mr. A was hiding behind a pillar in the underground parking lot. When Ms. B got into her vehicle, he forcibly opened the passenger door and threatened her with a weapon. He then tied Ms. B up, placed her in the back seat, drove the vehicle, and withdrew cash using Ms. B’s credit card at several ATMs, according to the investigation.
Ms. B was trapped inside the car for about an hour before escaping when the guard was inattentive and reported the incident to the police. The police formed a special investigation team and analyzed CCTV footage. Four days later, at 7:24 PM on the 16th, they urgently arrested Mr. A on a street in Bupyeong-gu.
A police official stated, "We plan to apply for an arrest warrant for Mr. A after investigating the exact circumstances of the crime, including the motive."
