Cutoff Scores for Advanced and Contract Departments Lower Than Medical Fields
"Top Students Prefer Medical Schools"

As a result of analyzing the acceptance scores for the 2024 academic year regular admissions, it was found that both the humanities and natural sciences fields had the highest scores in the order of Seoul National University, Korea University, and Yonsei University.

On the 16th, Jongno Academy analyzed the acceptance scores for the university scholastic ability test (final registrants' top 70% cut average percentile scores in Korean, Math, and Inquiry) by department announced recently by 'Daehak Eodiga'. In the humanities departments, Seoul National University had the highest score at 96.79 points, followed by Korea University (93.90 points) and Yonsei University (91.33 points).

In the analysis of natural science departments excluding medical fields, the order was Seoul National University (96.24 points), Korea University (94.78 points), and Yonsei University (93.83 points).

In the humanities departments at Seoul National University, the General Admission Agricultural, Food and Resource Economics Department had the highest score at 98.50 points, followed by the General Admission Economics Department (98.25 points) and the Regional Balanced Admission Political Science and International Relations Department (98.25 points) tied for second place.

In the humanities departments at Korea University, the General Admission Interdisciplinary Studies Department (95.87 points) and the Academic Excellence Admission Interdisciplinary Studies Department (95.67 points) had the highest acceptance scores.

In the humanities departments at Yonsei University, the General Admission Cultural Anthropology Department (94.25 points) and the General Admission Media, Communication and Film Studies Department (93.25 points) had high acceptance scores.

In the natural sciences departments at Seoul National University, the General Admission Department of Mathematical Sciences had the highest acceptance score at 98.50 points, while at Korea University, the General Admission Smart Mobility Department had the highest score at 96.62 points.

At Yonsei University’s natural sciences departments, seven departments including the General Admission System Semiconductor Engineering Department and the General Admission Artificial Intelligence Department all had the highest acceptance score of 95.0 points.

The medical school acceptance scores were the same for Seoul National University, Korea University, and Yonsei University at 99.0 points.

The acceptance scores for advanced and contract departments were highest in the order of Seoul National University’s General Admission Advanced Convergence Department at 98.0 points, Korea University’s General Admission Smart Mobility Department at 96.62 points, and Seoul National University’s Regional Balanced Advanced Convergence Department at 96.50 points.

The acceptance scores for advanced and contract departments at Seoul National University, Korea University, and Yonsei University were lower than those for medical, dental, pharmacy, and veterinary schools at each university. This indicates that top-tier students still prefer medical and pharmaceutical fields.

Jongno Academy explained, "In the humanities field, due to score differences between elective subjects under the integrated CSAT, and cross-application by science students to humanities departments, acceptance scores have fluctuated greatly and score prediction has become difficult. For the 2025 academic year, significant changes in acceptance scores between universities are expected due to the expansion of medical school quotas, increased selection of undeclared majors, the integrated CSAT system, and the exclusion of killer questions."
