Yangcheon-gu Mayor Lee Gi-jae Participates in Five-District Joint Pet Dog Patrol Campaign

On the 15th, Lee Gijae, the mayor of Yangcheon District, participated in the Seoul Metropolitan Autonomous Police Committee's 'Seoul Companion Dog Patrol' Anyangcheon joint patrol campaign.

This companion dog patrol is a coalition of five districts?Yangcheon, Gangseo, Guro, Geumcheon, and Yeongdeungpo?comprising 262 adults and 267 companion dogs who autonomously walk and patrol neighborhoods and vulnerable areas to contribute to proactive crime prevention activities. Through patrols that combine the daily walking activities of dog owners with crime prevention efforts, they report hazards, emergencies, and daily inconveniences.

In particular, this campaign was conducted jointly by the five autonomous districts to inspect Anyangcheon for accident prevention and living safety elements ahead of the full rainy season and to encourage dog owners to adhere to basic etiquette. The patrol started from a total of seven courses and gathered at the Anyangcheon Family Garden.

Lee Gijae, mayor of Yangcheon District, stated, “When companion dogs wear uniforms and patrol, it helps improve public perception of companion dogs and also contributes to living safety by identifying hazards throughout the neighborhood. I hope this joint patrol will serve as an opportunity to resolve conflicts between dog owners and non-dog owners and foster a culture of mutual respect and consideration.”
