A person suspected to be affiliated with a loan company reportedly sent dozens of delivery meals to a debtor's company using a postpaid method to pressure repayment. The restaurant owners who received the delivery orders have reportedly not been reimbursed for the food costs.
According to the Ansan Danwon Police Station on the 15th, around 3 p.m. on the 14th, a man estimated to be middle-aged, identified as Mr. A, ordered delivery food to a pizza shop operated by Mr. An (41) located in Ansan City. The total cost of the ordered food was approximately 170,000 KRW. However, the delivery driver who arrived at the company mentioned by Mr. A was told that no one had placed such an order.
After receiving a report from the delivery driver, the police confirmed that on the 14th alone, two restaurants, including Mr. An’s shop, suffered damages due to Mr. A’s orders, with unrecovered food costs amounting to about 360,000 KRW. The police suspect that Mr. A is affiliated with the loan company that lent money to employee Mr. B of the company.
It is known that the loan company Mr. A belongs to recently called the company about 50 times, demanding repayment by saying, "Mr. B borrowed 1,400,000 KRW and has not repaid it. Since we cannot reach Mr. B, the company should repay on his behalf." The company also reported to 112, stating, "The loan company’s demands are paralyzing our work."
The police plan to formally charge Mr. A with obstruction of business and violation of the Act on the Fair Collection of Claims and investigate the details of the case.
