The Gyeongnam Provincial Council has urged the Korean Medical Association and the medical community to withdraw their plan for a collective strike.

On the 14th, over 40 provincial council members, including Chairman Kim Jinbu, issued a statement at the entrance of the provincial council building, requesting the withdrawal of the collective strike by the medical community.

The council members stated, "The Korean Medical Association is encouraging local medical societies to participate in a collective strike on June 18, and some major hospitals have decided to go on an indefinite strike."

"Due to the medical community's decision to strike, countless patients with serious illnesses are directly experiencing the fear of death, and many citizens are anxious about missing the critical timing for treatment in emergencies, which could threaten their lives," they said.

They appealed, "As doctors who once pledged the Hippocratic Oath, we ask you to return to your original pure intentions and passion, and to protect the medical field."

They continued, "We urge the Korean Medical Association to immediately withdraw the collective strike plan that puts public health and lives at risk. We also ask the Gyeongnam Medical Association to listen to the voices of patients in need and to protect the local medical field."
