Sahmyook University Signs International Exchange MOU with Shandong Urban Construction Vocational College, China

Operation of Short-Term Korean Language Program for Invited Exchange Students

Sahmyook University has signed an international exchange agreement (MOU) with Shandong Urban Construction Vocational College in China to operate an ‘Invited Exchange Student Program’ and a ‘Short-term Korean Language Training Course’.


According to this agreement, Shandong Urban Construction Vocational College will select students with excellent academic performance and Korean language proficiency to dispatch them as exchange students to Sahmyook University. They also agreed to operate a short-term Korean language training course at Sahmyook University during the summer or winter vacation periods for Korean language learning and cultural exchange.


Shandong Urban Construction Vocational College is located in Jinan, the capital city of Shandong Province. It is a public university jointly operated by the Shandong Provincial Department of Education and the Housing and Urban-Rural Development Department. As a university specialized in architecture, it offers 43 related majors and currently has about 13,000 students enrolled.


In particular, Sahmyook University and Shandong Urban Construction Vocational College have been jointly operating a ‘Sino-foreign Cooperative Program’ since 2021. The Sino-foreign cooperation program is a project led by the Chinese Ministry of Education. Chinese educational institutions and foreign educational institutions jointly operate the entire process from student recruitment to talent development plans and education.

The two schools have established and are operating a ‘3+1 Associate Degree Program in Architectural Design.’ After completing three years of study at Shandong Urban Construction Vocational College and obtaining an associate degree, students can transfer to the fourth year of the four-year Architecture Department at Sahmyook University and earn credits for one year to receive a bachelor’s degree from Sahmyook University as well. Currently, 109 students are participating in this program.


Je Hae-jong, President of Sahmyook University, said, “Based on the achievements of the ‘Sino-foreign Cooperative Program’ over the past three years, we have expanded the scope of international exchange to include the ‘Invited Exchange Student’ and ‘Short-term Korean Language Training’ programs. We will do our best to nurture excellent talents with international sensibility and professional competence by fully utilizing Sahmyook University’s outstanding educational resources.”


Hu Hyo-bin, Vice Director of the Shandong Provincial Housing and Urban-Rural Development Department, said, “We will select the most outstanding students to dispatch to Sahmyook University. Based on the principles of cooperation, equality, mutual benefit, and student development shared by both schools, we hope this will lead to broader and deeper international exchanges in the future.”


Meanwhile, Sahmyook University currently has sister university agreements with 151 universities worldwide and is actively promoting international exchanges.
