Acting Out at Chicken Restaurant... "I'm a District Office Official, I'll Ruin Your Business"

Let's Clean Up the Spilled Alcohol on the Floor "Is Cleaning That Important?"
"If You Run a Business Like This, You'll Get Rich" Sarcasm Too

A customer who deliberately spilled beer on the restaurant floor and then showed a brazen attitude by saying "I'll ruin your business" when the owner tried to clean it up is causing public outrage.

On the 13th, an online community called 'Because It's Hard, I'm the Owner' featured a post titled "My heart feels heavy." Mr. A, who revealed that he runs a small chicken restaurant with his wife, confessed, "We operate both a dining hall and delivery service, but I can't get my mental state together because of a recent incident in the dining hall."

According to Mr. A, he recently served four male customers in their 40s to 50s who seemed slightly intoxicated just before closing time. Although he informed them that it was difficult to use the dining hall as closing time was near, they insisted, "We'll just eat for 30 minutes," and entered the restaurant. They ordered chicken and drinks, and shortly after, the area under their table was soaked with beer. Mr. A's wife, who was in the restaurant, noticed the beer spilled in the passageway used by delivery drivers and, concerned about accidents, asked, "Did you spill water?" One customer responded as if he didn't know anything about it. Then the group casually joked among themselves, saying, "Why did you do that? Wasn't it you?"

Afterwards, Mr. A's wife wiped the beer under the table with kitchen towels. Soon after, the customers got up and paid their bill. However, one of the customers, who was thought to be leaving, came back into the restaurant and said something to Mr. A's wife.

Mr. A said, "After the customers left, my wife was cleaning the floor when one customer came back in and said, 'What's the big deal about cleaning the floor?' Then other customers also came back in, shouting loudly and pointing fingers at my wife." The customers reportedly said things like, "I paid for my food, did I pee on the floor?", "Spilling beer can happen, did I run away without paying?", and "If you run your business like this, you'll become rich." One customer, in particular, said, "I'm a district office employee, and everyone in the neighborhood knows me. I've never seen a place like this. I'll make sure your business fails immediately."

Mr. A said, "My wife and I were scared by the absurd threats, but I was so frightened at the moment that I couldn't say anything," adding, "After reviewing the CCTV footage, it was clear that the customer was not just careless but deliberately pouring beer on the floor." He continued, "I feel so pathetic for not being able to do anything at that moment and feel like I caused my wife great emotional pain. Since that day, I have had trouble sleeping, and my wife says she can't come to the restaurant."

In fact, the closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage posted by Mr. A shows one male customer sitting near the passageway pouring alcohol on the floor when the others were not looking. Then another man who received a drink also poured beer on the floor again and pretended to drink it.

Netizens who saw the news responded with various comments such as, "It seems like they pretended to drink because they didn't want to drink and secretly spilled it, but they acted up because they got caught by the owner," "Isn't this intentional harassment and business obstruction? Report them. If they're a public official, they used their position to threaten," and "Go to the district office complaint center, submit the CCTV footage, and file a complaint as is."
