Gyeonggi-do Extends Generous Sale Until the 23rd... Adds Beef and Pork, etc. Gyeonggi Provincial Government

Gyeonggi Province is expanding the discount items and extending the event period for the ‘Gyeonggi Revitalization Big Sale’.

Since the 6th, Gyeonggi Province has offered a 10% discount on 17 popular items including cucumber, lettuce, chili pepper, green onion, zucchini, blueberry, watermelon, cabbage, and eggs at 78 local food direct stores within the province. Starting from the 14th, three additional essential food ingredients?rice, and relatively expensive beef and pork?have been added.

Also, the ‘Local Food Direct Store Big Sale’ event, originally scheduled to end on the 16th of this month, will be extended until the 23rd.

Gyeonggi Province explained that the Consumer Price Index announced by Statistics Korea on the 4th showed a 2.7% increase compared to the same month last year, with continued rises in public and service fees, food products, and food and accommodation charges, indicating ongoing difficulties in the livelihood economy. Therefore, they decided to expand the discount items and extend the event period for the ‘Gyeonggi Revitalization Big Sale’.

The Gyeonggi Revitalization Big Sale is part of the Let’s Go! project, a core initiative for livelihood recovery that Gyeonggi Province has been promoting since May 17 amid persistent high inflation, high interest rates, and low growth. In addition to local food direct stores, seasonal fruits are also being sold at 20-30% lower prices on the online mall Market Gyeonggi.

Park Jong-il, Director of the Agricultural Food Distribution Division of Gyeonggi Province, said, "Through the addition of discount items and extension of the period for this Big Sale, we hope that more consumers will have the opportunity to purchase Gyeonggi agricultural products at affordable prices despite the difficult economic conditions, and that farmers will benefit from increased farm income."
