At 9:21 a.m. on the 13th, a fire broke out at a sea fishing spot located 0.5 km southeast of Sirak Port in Jinjeon-myeon, Masanhappo-gu, Changwon, Gyeongsangnam-do.
According to the Changwon Maritime Police Station, part of one building at the sea fishing spot was damaged by the fire, but since the fishing spot was not in operation at the time, there were no casualties.
Upon receiving the report, Changwon Coast Guard dispatched patrol vessels and a coastal rescue boat from the Gwangam Police Substation to the scene, arranged for a private maritime rescue vessel, and requested support from the Masan Fire Station's fireboat.
They cut open two sections of the fishing spot's floor to control the flames inside, and with the help of drainage pumps and fire hoses from the Coast Guard and fireboat, the fire was completely extinguished by around 2 p.m. that day.
The Coast Guard and fire authorities are currently investigating the exact cause of the fire and the extent of the damage, questioning fishing spot staff who witnessed the incident.
