Madle Park Revitalization Project Completed... Oh Seung-rok, Nowon District Mayor, Attends Completion Ceremony

On the 13th at 4 p.m., Oh Seung-rok, the mayor of Nowon-gu, attended the 'Madeul Park Regeneration Project Completion Ceremony' held at Madeul Sports Park in Nowon-gu, Seoul.

The district started the park regeneration project in July last year to address the aging facilities and insufficient sports amenities of Madeul Sports Park (located in Sanggye-dong, Nowon-gu, with an area of 67,109㎡) and completed the construction in April this year.

The main improvements include ▲ creation of a circular walking trail ▲ establishment of outdoor exercise spaces ▲ relocation of the pet family rest area ▲ renovation of an inclusive playground where children with and without disabilities can play together ▲ creation of a forest playground ▲ installation of a new basketball court, among others.

In particular, Madeul Sports Park features an inclusive playground where children with and without disabilities can play together. It includes basket-shaped swings accessible to children with disabilities and rotating play equipment that can be used without leaving a wheelchair.

Additionally, through this regeneration project, the district enhanced convenience for people with disabilities by adding five exercise machines for the disabled in the outdoor exercise area, besides renovating the inclusive playground.

The completion ceremony was attended by about 150 people, including Mayor Oh Seung-rok, Kim Jun-seong, chairman of the Nowon-gu Council, and local residents. The event proceeded in the order of opening, introduction of guests, progress report, congratulatory speeches, ribbon-cutting, and rounding.

Mayor Oh Seung-rok of Nowon-gu said, “Through the Madeul Park regeneration project, the park has been reborn as a community sports space that everyone can use in various ways.” He added, “We will continue to strive to build a community sports infrastructure where everyone?from children to the elderly, and people with and without disabilities?can engage in physical activities.”
