KOSPI Closes at 2750 on Foreigners' 'Buying'... 'Semiconductor Strength'

The KOSPI closed above the 2750 mark as foreigners net purchased over 1 trillion won. Semiconductors such as Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix showed strong performance.

On the 13th, the KOSPI closed at 2754.89, up 26.72 points (0.98%) from the previous trading day.


By investor type, foreigners net purchased 1.5406 trillion won. Meanwhile, individuals and institutions net sold 1.4027 trillion won and 105.3 billion won, respectively.


By sector, medical precision rose 4.44%. Distribution and electrical electronics sectors increased by more than 2%. Conversely, textiles and apparel fell 1.70%. Additionally, insurance and pharmaceuticals declined by more than 1%.


Among the top market capitalization stocks, Samsung Electronics closed at 78,600 won, up 2,100 won (2.75%) from the previous trading day. SK Hynix rose 3.26%. LG Energy Solution also increased by 3.27%. On the other hand, Celltrion fell 2.67%. LG Chem and Shinhan Financial Group closed down by more than 1%.


On this day in the KOSPI, three stocks including Kolon Global Preferred and Daewon Cable Preferred hit the upper limit, with 396 stocks rising and 464 stocks falling without any hitting the lower limit. Seventy-three stocks remained unchanged.


The KOSDAQ closed at 871.33, up 0.66 points (0.08%) from the previous trading day.


By investor type, institutions net sold 191.4 billion won. Meanwhile, individuals and foreigners net purchased 19.3 billion won and 173.4 billion won, respectively.


By sector, telecommunications equipment rose 2.61%. Digital content, non-metallic, and distribution sectors closed with slight gains. Conversely, other manufacturing fell 2.15%. Additionally, broadcasting services and paper & wood sectors declined by more than 1%.


Among the top market capitalization stocks, EcoPro BM closed at 209,000 won, down 500 won (0.24%) from the previous trading day. Alteogen, Celltrion Pharm, and HPSP fell by more than 2%. On the other hand, HLB rose 4.95%. Pearl Abyss also closed up 5.09%.


In the KOSDAQ, two stocks including Cartis and S&D hit the upper limit, with 713 stocks rising. Meanwhile, 823 stocks fell without any hitting the lower limit, and 114 stocks closed unchanged.
