Park Sang-chul, President of Honam University, Visits Lee Inam Studio to Discuss 'Industry-Academia Cooperation'

On the afternoon of the 12th, Park Sang-cheol, President of Honam University, visited the Lee Lee-nam Studio, led by world-renowned media artist Lee Lee-nam, who represents Gwangju. They discussed concrete plans for cooperation in workforce development and job creation, as well as the signing of an MOU.

Attending the visit from Honam University were President Park Sang-cheol, Dean of Academic Affairs Jeong Young-gi, Director of Admissions Choi Young-hwa, Director of International Exchange Son Wan-i, Deputy Director of Industry-Academia Cooperation Lee Eun-kyung, Head of the Department of Cartoon Animation Koo Man-chae, Professor of Visual Convergence Design Oh Tae-won, and Professor of Industry-Academia Cooperation Kim Han-seok. From Lee Lee-nam Studio, Lee Lee-nam, Director Yoon Soo-dong, and Office Manager Bae Hyo-kyung participated.

Located in Yangnim-dong, Lee Lee-nam Studio opened in November 2020. It is a complex cultural space consisting of the creative studio of Lee Lee-nam, a world-renowned media artist representing Gwangju, a media art museum, and a media cafeteria. The studio building is situated on the site of the Yangnim-dong residence of missionary Peterson, who witnessed helicopter shootings during the May 18 Democratic Uprising.

On the day, Director Lee Lee-nam stated, "We aim to actively support collaborative exhibition space and special lectures linked with Honam University’s Visual Convergence Design Department, Media Video Performance Department, and Cartoon Animation Department, as well as on-site learning programs for convergence major immersive content. Through this, we hope to practice Gwangju as a UNESCO Creative City of Media Arts and contribute to the development of the media art field."

In response, Park Sang-cheol, President of Honam University, said, "We look forward to meaningful industry-academia cooperation with the globally recognized Lee Lee-nam Studio beyond our region in the field of new media art. We will do our best to nurture outstanding talent, develop employment and media content education programs, and connect with special lectures by artist Lee Lee-nam."

This visit marks the 13th corporate visit by Honam University President Park Sang-cheol, and he plans to continue discovering and visiting excellent local companies in the future.
