Same Level as Two Weeks Ago
President Yoon Seok-yeol's approval rating for his administration has not shown signs of recovery after a sharp decline following the general election. Regarding the suspension of the September 19 inter-Korean military agreement, a high level of support was observed.
According to the National Barometer Survey (NBS) conducted from the 10th to the 12th by polling firms Embrain Public, K-STATS Research, Korea Research, and Hankook Research (telephone interviews using virtual mobile numbers with 1,005 men and women aged 18 and older nationwide), 29% of respondents evaluated President Yoon's governance positively. This figure is at the same level as the survey conducted two weeks earlier.
President Yoon's approval rating was 38% in the first week of April before the general election, but it dropped to 27% after the election and has since remained steady. Earlier, on the 3rd, President Yoon drew attention by announcing the possibility of oil and natural gas reserves of up to 14 billion barrels in the East Sea. However, controversies over the credibility of the polling firms have added to the debate, and related news has now become a subject of controversy.
Negative evaluations rose by 1 percentage point from the previous survey to 63%.
Party support ratings showed the People Power Party dropping by 1 percentage point to 29%, and the Democratic Party also falling by 1 percentage point to 26%. The New Justice Party rose by 1 percentage point to 13%, and the Reform New Party increased by 2 percentage points to 5%.
This survey also included a question on the suspension of the September 19 inter-Korean military agreement, with 52% of respondents expressing support. Those opposed accounted for 38%.
Regarding the recent political controversy over the revival of district party organizations, 20% of respondents supported it, while 46% opposed it.
Detailed survey results can be found on the website of the Central Election Poll Deliberation Commission.
