Department of Fashion Design at Dong-A University Wins Excellent Reviewer Award and Presentation Award at the Korean Society of Costume Conference

Professor Joo Naan Recognized for Contributions to Fashion Marketing and Business

Professor Lee Shinyoung and Master Bae Hani, 'Hanbok Uniform Design'

Dong-A University (President Lee Haeu) announced on the 13th that Professor Joo Naan of the Department of Fashion Design received the Excellent Reviewer Award, and Professor Lee Shinyoung and graduate student Bae Hani of the Department of Clothing and Textiles (Master’s Program) each received the Excellent Paper Presentation Award at the ‘2024 Spring Conference of the Korean Society of Costume’.

The ‘2024 Spring Conference of the Korean Society of Costume,’ hosted by the Korean Society of Costume, which has over 4,000 professionals active in the clothing and fashion field, was recently held at the Chung-Ang University Centennial Memorial Hall under the theme ‘Neo Minimalism and FASHION’.

Professor Joo is actively conducting research in the fields of fashion marketing and business, including consumer behavior toward innovative technologies in fashion and the impact of innovative technologies on the fashion business. In recognition of his outstanding contribution to improving the quality of academic journals, he received the ‘Best Reviewer Award’ from the society.

Professor Lee Shinyoung and graduate student Bae Hani presented a paper on ‘Development of Hanbok Uniform Design Utilizing Zero Waste’ at the conference.

This research involves developing hotel Hanbok uniform designs by applying zero waste techniques to reduce fabric waste in the manufacturing process, while utilizing the details of traditional Hanbok and traditional Hyungbae patterns to promote the spread of traditional culture.

Graduate student Bae Hani said, “I believe I was able to receive this meaningful Excellent Paper Award thanks to the generous guidance of my advisor and the professors in my department,” and added, “I will strive to become a researcher who studies fashion design that considers the spread of Korean traditional culture and the environment.”
