Senco, a specialized company in electrochemical gas sensors, announced on the 13th that its newly developed product, the portable 2-gas detector (Duo Tracer), has obtained international explosion-proof certification (IECEx) and European explosion-proof certification (ATEX).
Explosion-proof certification is mandatory for industrial gas safety devices. Among them, the international explosion-proof certification (IECEx) serves as the fundamental certification for European explosion-proof certification (ATEX), Canadian explosion-proof certification (CSA), U.S. explosion-proof certification (UL), and South American explosion-proof certification (Inmetro). After securing the international explosion-proof certification, it can be converted to the certification of each regional country. In particular, portable gas safety devices must meet intrinsic safety explosion-proof certification standards, which are highly challenging and require significant time and cost.
Senco has already obtained international explosion-proof certification for portable single-gas detectors (SGT, SGTP), portable multi-gas detectors (SP-MGT), and portable pump-type multi-gas detectors (SP-MGTP), and the "portable 2-gas detector (Duo Tracer)" is the fifth portable product to receive this certification.
The Duo Tracer, which received the international explosion-proof certification (IECEx) and European explosion-proof certification (ATEX), applies a miniaturized electrochemical gas sensor to minimize the product size and is equipped with wireless communication functionality. This satisfies both portability and functionality for workers, securing high competitiveness in the global market.
Additionally, the Duo Tracer can detect two gases in real-time with sensor combinations customizable to customer requirements, including oxygen + toxic, oxygen + combustible, toxic + combustible, and toxic + toxic types. Here, toxic refers to toxic gas sensors for gases such as carbon monoxide, hydrogen sulfide, sulfur dioxide, chlorine, and nitrogen dioxide.
Ha Seung-cheol, CEO of Senco, stated, “Explosion-proof certification is the biggest entry barrier in the industrial safety gas device market. Through explosion-proof certification of new products, Senco is building a product portfolio that surpasses global leading companies,” adding, “This will meet the expectations of global customers and lead to an expansion of global market share.”
