80 Trillion Won Global Market Last Year... Data Center Thermal Management Business Shines in the 'AI Era'
LG Electronics Trains Over 30,000 Engineers Annually in 62 Locations Across 43 Countries
LG Electronics is expanding its B2B (business-to-business) operations by training more than 30,000 global heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) engineers annually. This move comes as the importance of thermal efficiency management in data centers and semiconductor factories grows with the increasing adoption of generative artificial intelligence (AI), leading to high growth potential in the HVAC market. The HVAC market had already grown to approximately $58.4 billion (about 80 trillion KRW) as of last year. LG Electronics plans to more than double its sales in residential and commercial HVAC businesses by 2030, aiming to become a global top-tier comprehensive HVAC company.

On the 13th, LG Electronics announced that it trains over 30,000 HVAC engineers annually across 62 locations in 43 countries worldwide, including the United States and India. It operates the 'Global HVAC Academy' in regions such as North America, Central and South America, Europe, and Asia. Approximately 37,000 people are expected to complete training this year. The academy provides education on the installation and maintenance of LG Electronics products, including residential and commercial heating and cooling systems and high-efficiency chillers. It also offers specialized engineering training on designing HVAC solutions tailored to industrial and commercial spaces, as well as sharing practical procurement case studies.
The academy also serves as a hub for expanding LG Electronics’ B2B HVAC business. It hosts forums for installation engineers and seminars by inviting HVAC clients and consultants responsible for large building HVAC design, strengthening networking with key regional B2B stakeholders. LG Electronics has also established an integrated product exhibition zone within the academy, showcasing system air conditioners, high-efficiency heat pump heating and cooling systems, and other products.
LG Electronics plans to continue expanding the academy. In the first half of this year, academies were opened in Boston (USA), Taipei (Taiwan), and Chennai and Kolkata (India). By the end of the year, an additional academy will be established in Lyon (France).
Recently, LG Electronics hosted the ‘2024 LG HVAC Leaders Summit,’ inviting top-tier HVAC consultants from Vietnam, Indonesia, Thailand, the Philippines, and Singapore.
Lee Jae-sung, Vice President and Head of the Air Solution Division at LG Electronics’ H&A (Home Appliance & Air Solution) Business Unit, said, "We will steadily expand the academies worldwide as core infrastructure for the global HVAC business, enhancing the capabilities of local engineers and increasing touchpoints with customers."
