Dongdaemun-gu Seoul Korean Medicine Promotion Center Selected as 'Excellent Wellness Tourism Destination' for 3 Consecutive Times

Located in the Korean Medicine Industry Special Zone, Seoul Yakryeongsi, Dongdaemun-gu (District Mayor Lee Pil-hyung) Seoul Korean Medicine Promotion Center (Seoul Yakryeongsi Korean Medicine Museum) has been selected as an outstanding wellness tourism destination representing Korea for the third consecutive time.

The "Outstanding Wellness Tourism Destination" is a project by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Korea Tourism Organization to discover and strengthen excellent wellness tourism content representing Korea. It selects tourist destinations that fit six themes: food, stay, beauty, natural healing, healing, and Korean medicine.

First selected in 2021, the Seoul Korean Medicine Promotion Center was consecutively selected for the third time through evaluations last year and this year. The evaluation was conducted by a panel of experts based on operational performance, including ▲appropriateness of wellness content ▲efforts to attract tourists ▲future development potential, with the certification period lasting until December 31, 2025.

In particular, this evaluation awarded high scores for professional operation of the wellness tourism site, active promotional marketing, tourism commercialization, and cooperation with the Korea Tourism Organization and local communities.

The Seoul Korean Medicine Promotion Center will collaborate with the Korea Tourism Organization to revitalize wellness tourism and will receive various support such as travel commercialization, free experience events, and influencer promotions to promote wellness tourism.

A district official stated, “We are pleased that the Seoul Korean Medicine Promotion Center has been recognized as a wellness tourism destination representing Korea,” and added, “We will continue to prepare various wellness programs themed on Korean medicine to ensure that the Seoul Korean Medicine Promotion Center becomes a global tourist destination beyond Korea.”
