Phthalate Plasticizers Detected in Sticker Books
Endocrine Disruptors... Reproductive Function Impact
Harmful substances exceeding the standard by up to 269 times were detected in children's sticker books purchased directly from overseas online platforms.
On the 13th, Seoul City announced that, based on safety inspections conducted in the second week of this month on products from overseas online platforms, one children's sticker book and one dinosaur excavation toy sold on AliExpress were judged to be non-compliant.

The investigation targeted a total of 11 products, including toys and infant clothing sold on Temu and AliExpress. Items such as the detection of harmful chemical substances and durability were inspected.
First, the children's sticker book was found to contain the phthalate plasticizer DINP. The outer film of the sticker book exceeded the standard by 11 times, and the stickers inside exceeded it by 269 times. Phthalate plasticizers are endocrine-disrupting substances that can affect reproductive functions, causing reduced sperm count, infertility, and premature birth. They can also cause eye or skin irritation upon contact.
The dinosaur excavation toy was judged non-compliant in physical and mechanical tests due to the sharpness of the tool's tip used to excavate the toy dinosaur. This means children using the product may be exposed to risks of cuts or punctures.
Seoul City plans to conduct safety inspections on hygiene products such as disposable cups, straws, and paper napkins in the third week of this month. The following week, children's textile products will be inspected.
Safety inspection results can be checked on the Seoul City or Seoul Electronic Commerce Center websites.
