Seocho-gu, Seoul (Mayor Jeon Seong-su) will conduct child abuse prevention education for mandatory reporters of child abuse twice on the 14th and 21st of this month at the Seocho-gu Office auditorium.

This education is designed to provide a proper understanding of child abuse and the necessity of mandatory reporting to about 300 people, including childcare staff such as directors of local daycare centers, workers in 173 child-related institutions such as comprehensive social welfare centers, Seocho-gu Youth Counseling Welfare Center, Seocho-gu Family Center, community child centers, youth centers, as well as social welfare officers and resident child guardians.

These individuals are mandatory reporters who must immediately report to city, county, or district offices or investigative agencies if they discover or suspect child abuse, and are required to receive at least one hour of statutory mandatory education annually. Recognizing that education increases reports of suspected child abuse and helps prevent severe abuse, the district has expanded the education sessions to twice a year starting this year.

The education will proceed in the order of ▲a performance pledging "Happy Seocho for All Children" ▲demonstration of child abuse prevention education content ▲expert lectures. Child abuse specialist lawyers Jo Young-kwan and Lee Mi-jung will provide training on related case law, how to report and handle actual child abuse situations, and ways to be protected as whistleblowers, enhancing practical effectiveness on site.

In particular, the demonstration of the child abuse prevention education content "A World Where Time Stopped" is expected to be very helpful to the education participants involved in child-related duties. In April, the district became the first local government nationwide to create and distribute an online child abuse prevention education program applying gamification to childcare and educational institutions.

This content, designed so that children familiar with digital environments can naturally absorb child protection messages through game elements and storytelling, has received responses describing it as "fun and immersive content." The district plans to promote this demonstration so that each institution can actively utilize this program for child abuse prevention.

Mayor Jeon Seong-su said, "I hope this education leads to active interest in child abuse from the community and improves the safety of children," adding, "We will build a dense safety net including child abuse prevention to create a happy Seocho for all children."
