Former President Park Jeonghee Ranks 1st Among Age Group 60 and Above
A survey revealed that former President Roh Moo-hyun is the most favored president among Koreans.
According to a survey conducted by Gallup Korea from March 22 to April 5, targeting 1,777 men and women aged 13 and older nationwide, 31% of respondents named former President Roh Moo-hyun as their favorite president, the highest percentage recorded.
The second place went to former President Park Chung-hee (24%), followed by former President Kim Dae-jung (15%).
Among a total of 13 former and current presidents from Syngman Rhee to Yoon Suk-yeol, those who chose the top three?Roh Moo-hyun, Park Chung-hee, and Kim Dae-jung?accounted for 70% of all respondents.
Former President Moon Jae-in followed with 9%. President Yoon Suk-yeol recorded 2.9%, ranking fifth. Next were Syngman Rhee (2.7%), Park Geun-hye (2.4%), Lee Myung-bak (1.6%), Kim Young-sam (1.2%), and Roh Tae-woo (0.4%).
Regardless of gender, former President Roh Moo-hyun ranked first across all age groups. However, among those aged 60 and above, former President Park Chung-hee took first place.
Preferences for former President Moon Jae-in and President Yoon Suk-yeol appeared relatively higher among teenagers and people in their twenties.
One in ten respondents answered that they did not have a "particularly favorite president."
Meanwhile, in a survey on the most respected figures, General Yi Sun-sin (14%) ranked first. General Yi Sun-sin has held the top spot in 2014, 2019, and again in 2024. He was followed by King Sejong the Great (10%), former President Park Chung-hee (7%), and former President Roh Moo-hyun (4.5%).
