Distributed to 142 Welfare Facilities and Hospitals This Month

Gangdong-gu Publishes Welfare Practice Guidebook 'Welfare Work Manual' 2024 Welfare Work Manual at a Glance. Provided by Gangdong-gu.

Seoul Gangdong-gu (District Mayor Lee Soo-hee) announced on the 12th that it has produced the "2024 Welfare Work Manual at a Glance," which summarizes 126 welfare projects in one volume, and will distribute it to local welfare institutions such as community service centers and schools.

The "Gangdong-gu Welfare Work Manual at a Glance" is a practical guidebook that condenses welfare service information operated by the government, Seoul City, and Gangdong-gu into one volume for welfare project staff to refer to and apply during welfare counseling and case management.

Designed for welfare work practitioners, the manual is divided into eight areas to enhance practical use, covering welfare projects by target groups such as low-income families, children, adolescents, youth, persons with disabilities, and the elderly, as well as welfare projects by support areas including childbirth, childcare, health, employment, and housing. Additionally, it includes the latest information on various welfare projects, beneficiary selection criteria, and facility status.

Since 2008, the district has been publishing the "Welfare Work Manual at a Glance," updating the main contents of welfare projects according to life cycles and income brackets annually to serve as a work manual for practitioners. Gangdong-gu explained that the manual, which allows viewing extensive welfare projects in one volume, has gained popularity among welfare workers, leading to numerous requests for sharing from various welfare institutions and other local governments.

The district has completed distribution of this year's welfare work manual to community service centers and public health centers, and plans to distribute it to a total of 142 locations this month, including various welfare facilities, elementary, middle, and high schools, and hospitals within the region.

Seo Jeom-ok, head of the Gangdong-gu Life Security Division, said, "We produce the work manual so that welfare practitioners can easily refer to the annually changing welfare system," and added, "We will do our best to strengthen the capabilities of welfare workers and realize a Gangdong that walks together with the vulnerable through meticulous welfare support."
