Establishing the Anseong Hanwoo Brand through the Development of a Low-Carbon Rearing Model
Anseong City in Gyeonggi Province has embarked on creating a 'carbon-neutral' Hanwoo brand.
On the 11th, Anseong City held the 'Anseong City Carbon-Neutral Hanwoo Brand Establishment Project Service Commencement Report Meeting' at the Anseong Matchum Art Hall's main conference room, the city announced on the 12th.

This project aims to proactively respond to the demand for carbon-reduced livestock products by reducing greenhouse gas emissions in the livestock sector and enhancing the image of the local Hanwoo brand through the development of a low-carbon breeding model that can reduce methane emissions generated during the breeding process of ruminants such as cattle, sheep, and goats. Anseong City is the largest livestock breeding area, accounting for 3% of the national total and 14% of Gyeonggi Province.
Through this service, the city plans to conduct breeding demonstration experiments for carbon neutrality and simultaneously promote low-carbon livestock product certification consulting to comply with government carbon reduction policies. Additionally, Anseong City intends to apply a carbon reduction breeding manual unique to the city to cattle farms.
Yoo Tae-il, Vice Mayor of Anseong City, stated, "By establishing a carbon reduction feeding method model, we expect to support low-carbon farming activities in the livestock sector and contribute to achieving the national greenhouse gas reduction targets." He added, "We hope this project will serve as a starting point for sustainable future livestock farming."
