Formation of Regional Cooperation with 12 Organizations
Gathering Strategies Such as Discovering the Sancheong-type Model
Sancheong County in Gyeongnam is making efforts to be designated as a Special Education Development Zone. According to the county on the 12th, a local cooperation body has been formed to pursue this designation.
The local cooperation body, which connects local government, industry, and academia, includes 12 organizations such as schools and groups that will carry out the Special Education Development Zone project. Their goal is to foster local talent, expand support for public education, and improve residential conditions in order to establish a unique education development model for the county.
To be selected as a pilot area for the Special Education Development Zone, the county is accelerating efforts to develop the Sancheong-style education model, including the formation of this local cooperation body. In particular, various strategies are being considered, such as analyzing educational conditions and conducting surveys of students, parents, teachers, and residents.
Lee Seunghwa, the governor of Sancheong County, stated, "We will actively work to be designated as a pilot area by establishing a Sancheong-style Special Education Development Zone strategy," adding, "Through this, we aim to create a seamless childcare environment, make Sancheong a great place to raise children, and ensure happiness for everyone in Sancheong."
Meanwhile, the Special Education Development Zone, a project solicited by the Ministry of Education, is a system in which various local organizations cooperate to comprehensively support educational innovation, talent development, and settlement based on regional development.
The designation of pilot areas for the Special Education Development Zone is made by the Minister of Education after deliberation and resolution by the Presidential Committee for Balanced National Development. Selected regions will receive special grants of 3 to 10 billion won and region-specific incentives for three years. Applications are open until the 30th, and the final selection is expected at the end of July.
