Pyeongtaek International Exchange Foundation Hosts 'Pyeongtaek World Culture Week: UN Forces Culture Week'

Exhibition of Artifacts from UN Allied Nations Until the 13th
Experience Programs with Military Uniforms, Gear, and Combat Rations

The Gyeonggi-do Pyeongtaek International Exchange Foundation announced on the 11th that it held the opening ceremony of the '2024 Pyeongtaek World Culture Week: United Nations Command Culture Week' at the Pyeongtaek City Baedari Library on the 7th.

About 500 people attended the opening ceremony, including Jeong Jang-seon, Mayor of Pyeongtaek, Derek McCauley, Deputy Commander of the United Nations Command, Jacques Plis, Ambassador of Luxembourg to Korea, as well as defense attach?s from the embassies of the United Kingdom, Australia, the Philippines, Greece, France, Colombia, Germany, and citizens.


The event began with a video introducing the roles of the United Nations Command and the participating countries, followed by performances by the Pyeongtaek Boys and Girls Choir and the Air Force Operations Command Military Band.


The event will continue until the 13th. Especially this year, in celebration of United Nations Command Culture Week, an exhibition showcasing information, artifacts, and photos of the United Nations Command and the 22 countries that participated in the Korean War is also being held. Visitors can also experience military uniforms, gear, and combat rations of the Korean and French armies.


On the 12th and 13th, visitors can participate in cooking experiences featuring dishes from the United Nations Command participating countries, the Philippines and Greece. Jeong Jang-seon, Mayor of Pyeongtaek, said, "We express infinite gratitude and respect for the noble dedication of the United Nations Command veterans," adding, "Through this United Nations Command Culture Week, we hope to raise awareness of the role and status of the United Nations Command stationed in Pyeongtaek and to foster the development of international partnerships."
