Incheon City will provide up to 12 million KRW in employment support funds to automobile parts manufacturing companies and also support workers with vacation expenses and health checkups.
The city announced on the 11th that it has been selected for the Ministry of Employment and Labor's 'Automobile Industry Win-Win Agreement Expansion Support Project' and will invest 1 billion KRW in Incheon's automobile industry.
The city, together with the Incheon Chamber of Commerce and Industry, is promoting the project under the name 'Incheon Win-Win Package Support Project,' targeting automobile parts manufacturing companies in the region to provide job leap incentives, job filling employment support funds, and environmental improvements.
The job leap incentive supports companies that newly hire workers aged between 35 and 59 with up to 1 million KRW per month for 12 months, and newly employed workers receive job filling employment support funds of up to 3 million KRW depending on their length of service.
To improve workers' welfare, the project supports the purchase of items for preventing heat-related illnesses and provides vacation expenses and health checkups for workers. To strengthen corporate competitiveness, it also assists with environmental improvements such as ESG-related education and consulting.
Companies and workers wishing to participate in the project can check detailed information and apply through the Incheon City Job Portal and the Incheon Chamber of Commerce and Industry website.
The Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) of Incheon's manufacturing industry accounts for a high proportion at 26.1%, with automobile parts manufacturing responsible for 11.8% of total manufacturing output. However, due to poor working conditions and salary issues, the number of employees is decreasing, gradually weakening the industry's growth momentum.
An official from Incheon City stated, "We are promoting a customized project to resolve issues in the local automobile industry," adding, "We hope this will contribute to improving workers' welfare and mark the beginning of mutual growth between large corporations and their partner companies."
