Icheon-si Opens 'Biseung Branch' of Community Care Center in Military Housing

Available Regardless of Income... After-School Care Provided for Elementary School Students

A childcare center for dual-income couples has opened in a military housing complex located in Icheon-si, Gyeonggi-do. On the 11th, Icheon City announced that it held the opening ceremony of 'Biseung Branch,' a 'Together Care Center' within the Army housing apartment, on the 7th.

The Together Care Center Biseung Branch is equipped with an activity room, office, kitchen, and other facilities within a 99㎡ space. The center employs a director and two care teachers who are on duty at all times to care for 20 children. Any elementary school student in need of care, such as those from dual-income families, can use the center regardless of income level. The center offers various programs including after-school care, reading and homework guidance, and cultural and physical activities.

The opening ceremony was attended by Kim Kyung-hee, Mayor of Icheon, Yang Yoon-seok, Commander of the Air Force Command, other military officials, city council members Park Myung-seo and Song Ok-ran, principals of local elementary schools, representatives of social organizations, and residents.

Mayor Kim said, "The Together Care Center Biseung Branch is significant because it helps reduce the childcare burden on military personnel working on the front lines to protect national security, allowing them to focus on their defense duties." He added, "We will do our best to make Icheon a great place to raise children without any care gaps."
