Expect Balanced Tourism Development through Soho-Hwayang District Revitalization

In November, a 15 billion KRW-scale Aqua Garden is set to open in Soho-dong, Yeosu City, creating a new tourist attraction in Yeosu.

According to Yeosu City, Jeollanam-do, on the 10th, an investment agreement was signed at The Ocean Hotel with HJ The Ocean Resort Co., Ltd. and Aqua Garden Co., Ltd. for the Aqua Garden construction project, which will have a total floor area of 1,500 pyeong and three floors.

The ‘Aqua Garden’ is an indoor aquatic ecosystem that creates a cultural space where nature and people harmonize. Currently, it exists only in the metropolitan area and is very popular.

The large aquarium to be built inside the garden will vividly reproduce a natural underwater ecosystem, known as ‘Aqascape’ or ‘aquatic landscape art,’ possessing visual artistic value.

The space, which expresses underwater scenery using natural driftwood and aquatic stones as main materials, will be filled with ornamental fish such as the dragon-like ‘Arowana’ and the freshwater ray ‘Black Diamond,’ adding a sense of mystery.

Additionally, the garden will feature a caf? and a mystical zoo where visitors can experience and interact with various animals such as tortoises, otters, and reptiles, enhancing satisfaction for couples, families, and various citizens and tourists.

Especially, as the 8th elected administration has set ‘Realizing the Yeosu Bay Renaissance’ with balanced development of Yeosu as its core vision, the establishment of the large-scale Aqua Garden in the western area of Yeosu will strengthen balanced tourism development by revitalizing tourism in the Soho and Hwayang areas.

Jeong Gi-myeong, Mayor of Yeosu City, said, “The Aqua Garden, utilizing marine underwater animals suitable for our city’s image, is expected to become a representative tourist destination of our city, serving as a stepping stone for realizing the Yeosu Bay Renaissance beyond being a simple facility,” and added, “We will spare no administrative support for the smooth progress of the project.”
