Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam will conduct a joint inspection to prevent food poisoning at approximately 80 meal service facilities within local social welfare centers and postpartum care centers for two weeks starting from the 10th, in preparation for summer heatwaves and heavy rains.
This inspection will be carried out by inspection teams composed of city and district office officials and consumer food hygiene monitors, and will also be conducted jointly with Gyeongsangnam-do Province.
The main focus of the inspection includes: ▲ hygiene management at each stage of ingredient storage, cooking, and serving ▲ checking for the use of products past their expiration date ▲ health checkups for food handlers ▲ cleanliness and hygiene management of kitchens ▲ compliance with requirements for storing food samples, among others. During the hygiene inspection, frequently served snacks and cooked foods that are at risk of causing food poisoning will be collected and tested for foodborne bacteria and other contaminants.
Son Gilgwang, head of the Health and Hygiene Division, stated, "This inspection will include meal service facilities for fewer than 50 people, which are not required to report or operate as group meal service centers, in order to eliminate blind spots for food poisoning outbreaks," and added, "We will do our utmost to ensure that safe meals are provided to vulnerable groups such as the elderly, people with disabilities, and new mothers."
