Transforming Eup Old Downtown Areas into Attractive Hotspots
Gwangyang City in Jeollanam-do announced on the 8th that it held the launching ceremony of the ‘Youth Sketch Village,’ promoted by the youth enterprise ‘Nemo,’ as part of the Jeonnam-style youth village creation project, with about 70 participants including young people and residents.
The ‘Youth Sketch Village’ is a project that provides young people with the opportunity to stay in the old downtown area of Gwangyang-eup for a certain period and helps them establish roots in the region through local designer journeys, the ‘Majuday’ event to revitalize local commercial districts, and youth village network parties.
The launching ceremony was held in the order of introducing the annual plan and programs of the Youth Sketch Village, signing business agreements, and holding a forum. To ensure the successful establishment of this project, business agreements were signed with 11 youth organizations, and a youth forum was held by inviting youth representatives from other regions, attracting attention.
Baek Seung-hoon, CEO of the youth enterprise ‘Nemo,’ stated, “Since Gwangyang City has abundant high-quality jobs comparable to the metropolitan area, we will promote various programs in cooperation with local universities, companies, and youth organizations to create a differentiated Gwangyang-style youth village that coexists with local residents and enables young people to settle down perfectly.”
Jung In-hwa, Mayor of Gwangyang City, urged, “I ask young people not to fear failure with their purity and passion but to continuously challenge themselves,” and added, “I hope that the Youth Sketch Village project promoted by Nemo Co., Ltd. will serve as a catalyst for young people to realize their dreams and settle in our city.”
Meanwhile, Gwangyang City is promoting quality housing, jobs, culture, welfare, and education policies such as creating public rental housing for youth and startups, supporting interest on youth housing loans, operating various programs using the Youth Dream Center, and regional-led job projects to ensure the stable settlement of young people and the influx of youth population.
