On the 9th (local time), major foreign media outlets including the AP reported that Mosley was found in the rocky area of Symi Island in the Aegean Sea that morning. Although the exact cause of Mosley's death has not been revealed, it is currently believed that an accidental fall is the most likely cause. Mosley's wife, Dr. Claire Bailey, said, "He took a wrong path while climbing and collapsed in a place that was not easily visible to the search team," adding, "It is shocking to lose my wonderful, fun, kind, and intelligent husband Michael." She continued, "We lived an incredibly fortunate life together. We loved each other very much and were so happy to be together," and expressed gratitude, saying, "I am also very thankful to the Symi Island officials who worked tirelessly to find him."

Constadina Dimoglo, a police spokesperson, also stated, "The possibility that the death was the result of a criminal act is low," but added, "However, it is not certain how long he had been deceased."

Earlier, Mosley went missing after going for a walk along St. Nicholas Beach on Symi Island around 1:30 p.m. on the 5th. At the time, he had left without his mobile phone. Dr. Bailey reported him missing the next morning, and Greek authorities launched a large-scale search operation involving police, firefighters, and volunteers. Police dogs and drones were deployed in areas difficult for people to access.

Local police expressed puzzlement over Mosley's disappearance, describing it as "like a thriller." The area is well-marked and the paths are maintained, leading to comments that "it is not easy to get lost." There were also reports of sightings at a nearby bus stop, but analysis of closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage proved these to be false. Police said, "This island is small no matter where you go. He was staying as a guest of friends, but no one saw him," adding, "It’s unbelievable. How can someone disappear in broad daylight? No traces were found for hours." Fire officials involved in the search said, "The area is sparsely populated and controlled, so if he had been there, we would have found him," and suggested, "He might have taken another path or fallen into the sea."

However, at that time, Symi Island in Greece was under a heatwave warning with daytime temperatures exceeding 40 degrees Celsius. The maximum temperature on the 7th was forecasted to reach 48 degrees Celsius. It was considered possible that Mosley might have fainted from dehydration or other causes if he had not brought water.

Dr. Mosley, a medical doctor, was well known as the host of the BBC's 'Trust Me, I'm a Doctor' and ITV's 'This Morning' on 'The One Show.' He also received various awards, including an Emmy for the BBC science documentary 'The Human Face.' In 2012, he published the book 'The Fast Diet,' which sparked worldwide interest in intermittent fasting.
