On the 10th, Lee Bok-hyun, Governor of the Financial Supervisory Service, stated, "We will soon announce the final plan for the (short-selling) system improvement, which has been prepared through multifaceted efforts to derive a reasonable solution that all investors?individual, institutional, and foreign?can trust."

Governor Lee made these remarks while attending the '3rd Open Forum with Individual Investors' held at the Korea Exchange in Yeouido, Seoul, saying, "We ask all investors and the securities industry to actively cooperate so that the upcoming short-selling system improvement plan can be established in the market at an early stage."

This event was jointly organized by the Financial Supervisory Service, the Korea Financial Investment Association, and the Korea Exchange to explain the progress of discussions on the computerization of short-selling and the establishment of an institutional investor balance management system. The first short-selling system improvement forum was held in March, and this was the third meeting following last month.

Governor Lee explained, "The government is devising various policy measures to enhance the value of the capital market," adding, "The short-selling system improvement has also been promoted with the purpose of advancing our capital market by enhancing trust."

He continued, "The financial authorities will continue to actively pursue capital market improvements to foster our capital market as a continuously growing market based on investors' trust and confidence."
