External waste input will be restricted at the waste treatment facility within the 'Yongin Semiconductor Cluster General Industrial Complex,' where SK Hynix's semiconductor production line is being established.

Yongin City, Gyeonggi Province, announced on the 9th that Yongin General Industrial Complex Co., Ltd., the project implementer of the Yongin Semiconductor Cluster Industrial Complex, recently announced a supply plan for the waste treatment facility site within the complex reflecting this content.

The announcement specified that "the Yongin Semiconductor Cluster General Industrial Complex Resource Circulation Center (landfill) project will process 'waste generated within the industrial complex.'

The Resource Circulation Center will be developed on a scale of 75,340㎡. The landfill area is 43,901㎡. The landfill capacity totals 1,326,525㎥ and will operate as a managed landfill facility equipped with an air dome. The landfill lifespan is approximately 19.75 years.

Previously, during the permit process for installing the waste treatment facility within the complex, the implementer included a landfill plan covering areas outside the complex and proceeded with an environmental impact assessment. Regarding this, Mayor Lee Sang-il of Yongin said, "Residents can only understand if it is promised that no external waste will be brought in as originally promised to them," and urged, "Please respect the residents' wishes."

Meanwhile, the supply announcement for the waste treatment facility site will be conducted through the Korea Asset Management Corporation's electronic asset disposal system, 'Onbid,' until June 24. Eligibility to apply requires companies that have operated a landfill of at least 928,568㎥ for five years or less, or are currently operating one, and can operate the landfill according to contracts with the managing institution, Yongin City, and related laws. Additionally, applicants must be able to install and operate facilities for landfilling final disposal waste for over 10 years under the 'Act on the Promotion of Installation of Waste Treatment Facilities and Support for Surrounding Areas.'

Yongin General Industrial Complex plans to disclose the draft environmental impact assessment report for the related waste facility and hold a public hearing for residents at the Wonsam-myeon Administrative Welfare Center in Cheoin-gu on the 13th.

Mayor Lee stated, "During the development of the Yongin Semiconductor Cluster Industrial Complex, the city will mediate and assist so that the project implementer can actively communicate with residents and create a model case of coexistence."
