A fire broke out in the sauna room on the 6th floor of Dream Tower Complex Resort (hereinafter Dream Tower), the tallest building in Jeju, causing about 200 tourists staying there to evacuate urgently.
At around 7:12 PM on the 9th, a report was received of a fire in the women's dry sauna room on the 6th floor of Dream Tower, a 38-story building located in Nohyeong-dong, Jeju City.
The fire department deployed 47 personnel and 17 pieces of equipment, and extinguished the fire by around 7:27 PM, 15 minutes after the fire broke out.
The fire damaged the 9.91㎡ sauna room, and four people, including staff, suffered from smoke inhalation.
Additionally, about 200 people, including sauna users and guests staying in rooms, were involved in an emergency evacuation.
Police and fire officials stated, "We are currently ventilating the indoor smoke and managing the interior, and once the smoke clears, we will investigate the exact cause of the fire."
Dream Tower, with a total of 1,600 rooms, has recently been selling about 1,000 rooms, but it was reported that there were relatively fewer tourists in the rooms at the time of the fire as it occurred during the evening hours.
