After Finishing All the Delivery Food, "Quail Egg Shell Found"... Demanding Full Refund

Posted in Self-Employed Community
Cases of Unreasonable Food Refund Requests Continue

A story about a restaurant owner who gave a full refund as requested by a customer after quail eggshells were found in a delivery order has come to light.

On the 5th, a post titled "They are demanding a full refund because quail eggshells were found in the food" was uploaded to the self-employed online community 'Apeunikka Sajangida' (Because It Hurts, I'm the Boss). The author, Mr. A, said, "This is a customer who orders once a week, and I received a call demanding a full refund because quail eggshells were found," adding, "The food was almost all eaten" to describe the situation at the time.

Mr. A said, "I apologized profusely and told the customer that if they ordered again, I would include a complimentary service, but they insisted on a full refund," adding, "I was flustered because this was the first time in over five years of business that something like this happened." He continued, "I said that a partial refund would be more reasonable, but the customer kept insisting on a refund, so I collected the food and refunded the money." Mr. A also shared a photo presumed to have been sent by the customer. In the photo, the customer is holding a quail egg with their hand over food that looks almost finished, and small pieces of eggshell are attached to the quail egg.

Netizens who saw the story reacted with comments such as, "It's hard to run a business if you refund for something like that," "There are quite a few like that among peeled quail eggs," "Isn't that something you can just overlook?" "That's really too much," "You can't understand people's minds," and "The owner must have been upset."

Cases of unreasonable refund demands after eating delivery food continue to occur. On the 30th of last month, a story was reported about a customer who ordered food for delivery and, eight hours after the order, claimed that an eyelash was found in the food and demanded a refund. The author, Mr. B, who identified himself as a self-employed person running a rice bowl restaurant, said, "The customer is demanding a refund, claiming that an eyelash was found in the food," explaining, "If there was an eyelash, it is regrettable, but the order was placed at 5 p.m., and the refund request was made through a delivery app review at 1 a.m. I know the nickname because they applied for a review event, but they are changing their nickname while demanding a refund." The customer demanded a refund eight hours after receiving the order, claiming foreign substances were found in the food, and expressed dissatisfaction only through the app without contacting the store directly.

Netizens responded with comments such as, "Ask for photo evidence and say you will contact the insurance company," "You can't do DNA testing either," "It's sad that these things happen frequently," "You shouldn't give in to everything they say," "They probably used an eyelash because hair color or curliness might be suspicious," "Anyone can see they just want to eat for free," and "There are all kinds of people." Additionally, in April, JTBC's 'Sageonbanjang' (Case Manager) reported on a black consumer who repeatedly ordered food from various restaurants and falsely claimed foreign substances were found to get refunds and free meals.
