This Year's Wheat Festival 'Wheat Food Select Shop' Features Over 20 Popular Restaurants
The city of Busan has revealed the list of around 20 popular restaurants participating in the “Wheat Food Edit Shop” at the “2024 Busan Wheat Festival” (subtitled: Utopia for Wheat Lovers), which will be held from June 22 to 23 at the Hwamyeong Ecological Park Auto Camping Site and Lotus Complex.
The “Wheat Food Edit Shop” is the core content of this festival, offering a place where visitors can enjoy a variety of wheat-based dishes from Michelin Guide-listed restaurants, popular Busan eateries, and dessert shops all in one spot.
The Wheat Food Edit Shop, announced on the 7th, features restaurants introduced in the 2024 Michelin Guide for Busan and Seoul, including ▲Ramzy (gnocchi) ▲Cor Pasta Bar (ravioli pasta) ▲Le Dohe (Gijang anchovy fries) ▲Dough Room (fresh pasta) ▲Ryunique (Western cuisine, planned), as well as local favorites such as ▲Kokamome (tendon) ▲Dongbaek Agassi 1961 (white camellia tteokbokki), drawing much attention.
Other local favorites include ▲Gourmet Milmyeon (yukjeon milmyeon) ▲Namcheon Myeonga (perilla oil buckwheat noodles) ▲Ryusenso (ramen) ▲The Ftown (handmade burgers), while the dessert zone features ▲Churros 1500 (Busan, churros) ▲Farmers Garden (Chuncheon, bakery) ▲Eupcheonri 382 (coffee and beverages), along with a separate booth for alcoholic beverages.
This festival will also feature surprise visits from chefs of five Michelin Guide-listed establishments, including Chef Lee Jun of Dough Room (Seoul) and Chef Ryu Taehwan of Ryunique (Seoul), who is originally from Busan, who will cook dishes on-site.
In addition, the lineup for the Wheat & Wit Concert, which delves into the world of wheat through history, science, and art, has been finalized.
Participants include ▲science communicator “Gyedo” ▲history storyteller “Sun Kim” ▲food columnist “Park Sanghyun” ▲culinary researcher “Hong Shinae” as well as ▲master brewer Yoo Cheonggil of Geumjeongsanseong Makgeolli ▲Kim Gwanyeol, master brewer of Busan craft beer Wild Wave ▲Chinese cuisine master Chef Yeo Kyungrae ▲udon master Chef Park Sanghyun ▲food director Kim Hyejun ▲bakery chef Lee Hoyoung, who will each take the stage at different times to share fun and accessible stories about wheat.
Additionally, in the Lotus Complex area, there will be various hands-on programs and food markets, including a Korean wheat exhibition, wheat yakgwa making, and noodle making, operated by the National Institute of Crop Science.
Tickets for limited set menus from Michelin and local restaurants, offered at affordable prices, will be available for pre-sale from 10 a.m. on the 7th until 5 p.m. on the 19th.
The set menus, which include ▲one dish from a Michelin restaurant, one dish from a local restaurant, and a welcome drink, and ▲two dishes from local restaurants and a welcome drink, will be sold at discounted prices of 20,000 won and 16,000 won respectively, according to time slots.
A total of 2,000 tickets will be available for pre-sale. Those who miss the pre-sale can purchase single menu items on-site using a QR code. Please note that on-site purchases may require waiting and may sell out early.
