Han Dong-hoon, former Emergency Response Committee Chairman of the People Power Party, introduced a picture book production project honoring the late Sergeant Han Sang-guk, who died in the Second Battle of Yeonpyeong in 2002, on his social networking service (SNS).
In a Facebook post on the afternoon of the 7th, former Chairman Han said, "A picture book telling the life and death of Sergeant Han Sang-guk, a hero of the Battle of Yeonpyeong, is being prepared," adding, "Since I met Sergeant Han’s wife at a West Sea defense event not long ago, we have been in contact, and she gave me the opportunity to participate in this good cause. I hope a great picture book comes out." He then shared a link to the funding project site for the book production.

According to the introduction text of the funding project link shared by former Chairman Han, "During the Second Battle of Yeonpyeong, our Navy’s Chamsuri 357 boat fought bravely without sparing their lives, driving out the North Korean forces and protecting our sea," and "Sergeant Han Sang-guk was a responsible soldier who did not let go of the helm even after his life ended."
He continued, "This project aims to compile the story of the late Sergeant Han Sang-guk into a picture book to inform children," adding, "The writer, illustrator, translator, and those who took and edited photos and videos are all friends honoring Sergeant Han Sang-guk."
As of 5:30 p.m. on the same day, the project had successfully raised over 10 million won, far exceeding the target amount of 3 million won. The number of supporters who participated in the funding reached 389. The funding period lasts until the 6th of next month.

Former lawmaker Yoo Seung-min also shared the project link on his Facebook. He wrote, "Ahead of the 22nd anniversary of the Second Battle of Yeonpyeong, this is a meaningful effort to inform our children about the life of a hero," adding, "Even small support will be a great help."
Meanwhile, Han, who resigned taking responsibility for the defeat in the April 10 general election, has recently expressed his views several times on SNS regarding government regulations banning overseas direct purchases, the revival of local party branches, and other livelihood and political issues. His most recent post was on the 30th of last month, eight days ago, sharing his thoughts on the revival of local party branches.
