This campaign is the second train trip following the "Local 100 Train Trip Miryang Edition" launched last December, featuring the "Local 100 Train Trip Donghae·Gangneung 1 Night 2 Days" program jointly released by Korail and Donghae City.
During this schedule, Minister Yoo will visit ▲ Mureung Byeolyucheonji ▲ Mureung Valley ▲ Samhwasa Temple ▲ Dojjaebigol Sky Valley. Mureung Byeolyucheonji, formerly Mureung District 3 where limestone was mined since 1968, has transformed after over 40 years of mining into a tourist attraction featuring various play facilities utilizing the terrain such as a sky glider, offline luge, alpine coaster, roller coaster-type zipline, and two lakes.
Mureung Byeolyucheonji will hold a Lavender Festival from the 8th to the 23rd. Celebrating its second year, the festival period has been extended from the previous 3 days to 16 days. During the festival, events include ▲ Lavender classes where visitors can make scented pouches, bouquets, and flowerpots using lavender ▲ Cheongokho Lake trail trekking to enjoy the emerald-colored lake up close ▲ pedal kayak experience ▲ flyboard show and other experiential events ▲ flea market (flea market) lavender salon ▲ and the Bora concert.
Next, Minister Yoo will visit Mureung Valley and Samhwasa Temple. Mureung Valley, selected as one of the "Top 100 Korean Tourist Attractions," is a famous spot in Donghae City that includes Hoamso Pond, Yongchu Waterfall, and Mureung Bansuk rock. It has long been known as a summer retreat favored by sages.
Additionally, Minister Yoo will visit Dojjaebigol Sky Valley. Located near Mukho Port, Dojjaebigol Sky Valley, transformed from a steep valley into a tourist site, is a regional attraction selected as one of the "Top 100 Korean Tourist Attractions" along with Mureung Valley. It features an observatory with a glass floor overlooking the valley dozens of meters below, a sky bicycle crossing the valley, and a giant slide that reaches the valley floor in just 3 seconds.
This train trip is designed to fully enjoy Donghae City's attractions such as Mureung Byeolyucheonji, Bukpyeong 5-day Market, Mureung Valley, Dojjaebigol Sky Valley, and Cheongok Cave, as well as Gangneung City's sights in Gangwon Province including the Gangneung Danoje Festival and Anmok Coffee Street.
Minister Yoo In-chon said, "This schedule was prepared to visit local cultural sites with young employees of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism full of fresh ideas to identify policy demands and discover new policies. I strongly recommend a trip to Donghae City by train where you can enjoy both mountains and the sea to all citizens tired from the early heat. We will continue to strive to promote the charm of local areas domestically and internationally through the 'Local 100' campaign."
