Real-time Translation Support for Galaxy AI Expected on KakaoTalk in July

Samsung Electronics announced that it will equip the upcoming ‘Galaxy Z6’ series, set to be unveiled next month, with Galaxy Artificial Intelligence (AI) optimized for foldable phones. It plans to support on-device AI-based real-time translation features not only in Samsung apps but also in other voice and call applications.

Choi Won-jun, Vice President and Head of Development at Samsung Electronics’ MX Division, stated in a company newsroom article on the 7th, "We will soon introduce Galaxy AI optimized for the new foldable products to be unveiled." Samsung Electronics is scheduled to reveal the Z Flip6 and Fold6 at the Galaxy Unpacked event in Paris, France, on the 10th of next month. He added, "Foldables are the most versatile and flexible form factors among Galaxy products. When combined with Galaxy AI, they will open up even more new possibilities."
By enhancing on-device AI, real-time translation will be supported in third-party apps such as KakaoTalk. Vice President Choi said, "Starting next month, the Galaxy AI real-time translation feature will be expanded beyond Samsung apps to various third-party messaging apps that support voice and call functions. Users will be able to communicate using real-time translation through various apps without language barriers when meeting friends during travel."
Galaxy AI offers a hybrid AI that combines on-device and cloud AI. He explained, "On-device AI ensures fast response and strong privacy protection, while cloud AI provides various functions necessary for daily life. We have enhanced the usability of Galaxy AI in everyday life."
Vice President Choi emphasized, "Smartphones are very personal devices that record daily life and contain various information. It is necessary to provide users with complete choice and control over smartphone usage to deliver a seamless mobile experience."
Samsung Electronics expressed its ambition to lead the AI mobile market. He stressed, "We will expand the Galaxy AI ecosystem further, optimize it for each form factor, and apply more powerful features across the extensive Galaxy ecosystem to lead the expansion of the AI mobile market."
