Professors at Seoul National University Hospital have decided to begin a full strike starting on the 17th. However, surgeries and treatments in essential medical departments will be maintained on a limited basis.
The Emergency Response Committee of Seoul National University College of Medicine and Seoul National University Hospital announced on the 6th that, based on a survey conducted among all professors at four hospitals?Seoul National University Hospital, Bundang Seoul National University Hospital, Seoul Metropolitan Boramae Hospital, and Gangnam Center?they have resolved to implement a full strike starting on the 17th, excluding essential departments such as emergency rooms and intensive care units.
In the first survey conducted from the 3rd to the 6th regarding the "professors' course of action related to the advance notice of administrative measures against residents," 63.4% of the 939 respondents supported "strong measures including a strike." In the second survey conducted on the 5th and 6th asking for agreement on the strike method, 68.4% of the 750 respondents stated they would participate in a full strike excluding essential departments such as emergency rooms and intensive care units.
The Emergency Response Committee stated, "The strike will begin on June 17," and added, "If the administrative measures against residents are not completely withdrawn and reasonable actions to normalize the current medical crisis are not implemented, we will suspend medical services starting from that date."
