Preparing to Move After Winning Jeonse Rental Housing Application
A couple known as the ‘High School Teen Mom’ and ‘Many Children’ who were raising seven children in a 16-pyeong (approximately 52 square meters) house have recently won a lease rental housing lottery and are preparing to move.
According to Jung-gu Office in Seoul on the 5th, the couple, Cho Yongsuk (28) and Jeon Hyehee (28), both born in 1995, were selected last month for the newlywed and newborn household lease rental housing support program they applied for in March. This program allows eligible tenants to search for a desired house within the deposit limit, after which the Seoul Housing and Communities Corporation (SH) signs a lease contract with the property owner and subleases it to the tenant at an affordable rent. The district office stated that, following the couple’s selection, they are working with certified real estate agents and the Cheonggu-dong Community Service Center to identify suitable properties.
The couple previously became the first recipients of the childbirth and childcare support fund of 10 million won upon the birth of their seventh child. They have six children aged 10, 7, 6, 4, 3, and 2, and in February, their seventh child, Jo Si-hwan, was born, making them parents of seven siblings.
Jeon Hyehee, while receiving the childbirth and childcare support fund, said, “Our current home is 52 square meters (about 16 pyeong), but as the children grow, we will need a bigger house,” adding, “The size of the housing provided to large families is still small for raising seven children, so I am worried.” In response, Kim, the head of Jung-gu Office, said, “We will look for ways to solve this concern together.”
After hearing their story, Kumho Petrochemical Group decided in March to support the young couple raising seven children in an era of low birth rates, delivering a sponsorship fund of 100 million won to them.
The couple appeared last year on MBN’s entertainment program ‘High School Teen Mom’ as the ‘Many Children’ couple. At that time, Jeon Hyehee introduced herself as a ‘High School Teen Mom’ who gave birth to a daughter at 19 and later remarried, becoming a mother of six children. The show revealed their household income and expenses, showing a monthly income of about 2 million won excluding child allowances. Jeon Hyehee also demonstrated her efforts to overcome financial difficulties by working toward obtaining certifications.
