Financial Supervisory Service Chief Lee Bok-hyun Steps in as Elementary School Guest Lecturer... "Growing Need for Early Financial Education"

FSS to Conduct Financial Education at Schools with 20+ Employees Visiting in May-June This Year

Financial Supervisory Service Chief Lee Bok-hyun Steps in as Elementary School Guest Lecturer... "Growing Need for Early Financial Education"

Lee Bok-hyun, Governor of the Financial Supervisory Service (FSS), visited schools attended by employees' children last year and this year to encourage employees' talent donation by serving as a one-day financial education instructor.

On the 5th, Governor Lee gave a lecture to 5th-grade elementary school students, explaining the types and roles of financial companies such as banks, securities firms, and insurance companies, and educating on the importance of managing allowance for planned spending and saving. To engage the elementary students participating in the class, he used videos, true-or-false quizzes, and other interactive methods tailored to their level.

Before the class, during a meeting with school officials, Governor Lee agreed on the increasing need for early financial education through schools due to changes in the financial environment and concerns about financial crimes targeting youth. He stated, "We plan to continue operating diverse school financial education programs based on the 1-company-1-school financial education initiative, considering different age groups and academic schedules."

The FSS operates a program where employees visit schools as one-day instructors to provide financial education as part of their talent donation efforts. FSS employees participate in this program by sharing their accumulated experience and knowledge as financial experts with students. Last year, 14 employees participated, and from May to June this year, about 20 employees visited schools to practice talent donation through financial education.

The FSS plans to continue operating the employees' talent donation program to foster interest and positive responses toward financial education.
