Gumi City Addresses Medical Blind Spots... Meeting with Key Hospital Officials

Emergency Welfare Support Program: Medical Support Stakeholders Meeting Held

On the 4th, Gumi City in North Gyeongsang Province held a meeting in the city hall's small conference room with representatives from local hospitals to discuss current issues related to medical support.

The emergency welfare support project for medical assistance provides up to 3 million KRW per case to households struggling to cover medical expenses due to serious illnesses that require surgery or hospitalization.


At the meeting, about 10 representatives responsible for the medical support project from Gumi CHA University Hospital, Gumi Soonchunhyang University Hospital, Gumi Gangnam Hospital, Gumi Gangdong Hospital, and Bareunyu Hospital's social work department attended. They shared information about the related projects and exchanged various opinions on proactive medical support.


In addition to the emergency welfare support project, which pays medical expenses directly to hospitals, participants also shared information about medical support projects provided by organizations such as the Community Chest of Korea, Korean Red Cross, and National Health Insurance Service. Through various case studies, they discussed ways to ensure that beneficiaries receive stable treatment.


Kang Myungcheon, Director of Welfare Policy, said, "We will maintain a close collaboration system with hospital officials and work to ensure that those in the medical blind spots can safely receive the benefits of the medical support project."
