Meeting with Lawmakers Koo Jagun and Kang Myunggu to Discuss Local Issues
National Assembly Discusses Key Issues and Securing National Funding
On the 5th, the city of Gumi, North Gyeongsang Province, visited the National Assembly and held a meeting titled "Discussion on Major Issues and Securing National Funding," attended by more than 20 people including local district members of the National Assembly Koo Jagun and Kang Myunggu, Mayor Kim Jangho, and senior city officials.
This meeting was the first official gathering with the 22nd National Assembly members, organized to respond swiftly to local issues and secure national funding. The participants reviewed the progress of each project and sought solutions to any problems.
The attendees had in-depth discussions on major regional issues such as: ▲ Establishment of an advanced semiconductor materials and components complex ▲ Designation as a Special Opportunity Development Zone ▲ Relocation and establishment of a defense industry R&D institution in Gumi ▲ Construction of Donggumi Station on the Daegu-Gyeongbuk Line (Seodaegu-Uiseong) ▲ Designation of Kumoh National Institute of Technology as a Glocal University ▲ Designation and operation as a pilot city to overcome low birth rates ▲ Attraction of Saemaeul Undong Central Association and Training Center to Gumi ▲ Installation of phase 2 buffer storage facilities at Gumi National Industrial Complex 5, among others.
The city also proposed major national funding support projects such as: ▲ Construction of a specialized care and education integration center in the industrial complex ▲ Establishment of a semiconductor materials and components testing and evaluation center ▲ Attraction of a National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art branch in Gumi ▲ Comprehensive disaster risk management project in the Jangcheon district ▲ Construction of bridges connecting Gumi National Industrial Complexes 1 to 3 ▲ Creation of a green convergence cluster ▲ Support projects for areas surrounding USFK return zones, and more.
National Assembly members Koo Jagun and Kang Myunggu stated, "For the leap and development of Gumi, we will spare no effort to support the resolution of key issues and ensure that the main proposed projects are fully reflected in the government's budget."
Mayor Kim Jangho said, "Congratulations on the opening of the 22nd National Assembly. I request the National Assembly's full support for resolving local issues and securing national funding to ensure Gumi's growth engine through active communication," adding, "We will do our utmost to secure as much government funding as possible next year by establishing a close cooperative system with the National Assembly members."
